Good therapy is non-judgemental, accepting and affirming. This is what I aim to provide.

First Meeting

This is an opportunity for you to find out more about me and how I work so it is fine to ask questions and obtain the information you need. It is also an opportunity for me to find out more about you, what you experiencing and what you want to change. If we decide to work together then we can arrangements for regular sessions. If you need more time to decide then that it okay too.

Coming for therapy can feel unnerving for many people, and I find that having some kind of structure to the meeting often helps. I usually begin by giving information about confidentiality and safety. I then invite you to describe what has brought you here and what you seek. I will ask questions to clarify the issues. I also ask for personal information so that I can work safely with you, and start getting to know you. It is also a time for you to ask questions - about me, therapy, your concerns - whatever you need to know, so that you can become fully engaged in the therapeutic process.

Ongoing Sessions

I work contractually so we decide together the focus of the work and length of therapy. This may change as we increase our understanding of the issues but any change will be by mutual consent. I also regularly review with you the work we are doing together and invite feedback, taking account of this accordingly.

Weekly sessions are usually best, at least initially (4 to 6 sessions)  to establish a therapeutic relationship and generate momentum in the work. After this depending on the issues/type of work, sometimes meeting less frequently works well. When approaching ending the work, care is taken to give time for this (generally 2 sessions) so that any re-emerging issues can be dealt with.

I charge £45 for a 50 minute session

Payment for sessions can be made in cash or by bank transfer

At present I offer sessions on Friday afternoons, but other day times during the week may be available so do ask.

Sessions are attended weekly, usually at the same time, though exceptions can be made if need be.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged for at my discretion.
